Vendor evaluation

We’ve answered 300+ RFPs. Now we run yours.

We answered them as a vendor, so we know what the answers hide. Now we show banks what to ask for in the RFP, what to test in the demo, what to adopt, adapt or demand, and how to score and rank vendors.

Where we stand

Trade finance systems
We don’t make one. The recommendation is whichever system fits your products, volumes and integration estate.
Your decision
Every weighting, score and piece of vendor evidence is in your hands, so the choice can be defended to your committee.

The SELECT method

Six stages, from how your operation runs today to scored trials on your own transactions.

  1. Study the current state

How each product runs today: volumes, exceptions, manual workarounds, the spreadsheets kept outside the system and the interfaces to core banking, SWIFT and screening.

  2. Evaluate the business case

Replace, upgrade or consolidate. Built on the Operations Review baseline, the business case and ROI show what the change must deliver in STP, checker effort and migration risk, before any vendor is approached.

  3. List the requirements

A catalogue by product (LCs, collections, guarantees, trade loans, SCF) and by capability: MT7xx messaging, UCP 600 and ISBP handling, limits, screening, MI and controls.

  4. Establish the RFP or RFI

A pack vendors can answer precisely, with weightings agreed before any response arrives and questions that separate standard functionality from customisation and roadmap.

  5. Compare and shortlist

We read responses against what the products actually do, flag hedged answers, hidden customisation and thin support, and recommend a shortlist.

  6. Trial and score

Scripted demos and proofs of concept on your own sample transactions (a discrepant presentation, an amendment, a screening hit), scored against the agreed model.

What you receive

  • Requirements catalogue

Weighted by product and capability, and signed off by operations and technology.

  • RFP or RFI pack

Questions, response templates and the agreed scoring model, ready to issue.

  • Demo and proof-of-concept scripts

Scenarios built from your own transactions, with the scorecards behind them.

  • Shortlist report and recommendation

Gaps, risks and migration considerations for each vendor, and the points to settle in negotiation.

Why Venzo

  • We’ve written the vendor’s answers. So we know which ones hide a workaround, a customisation or a roadmap promise.
  • People who ran trade operations. Ex-bankers and system implementers who test vendors on discrepancies, repairs and screening hits, not feature lists.
  • Inside the systems. We have implemented the leading trade finance systems, so vendor claims are checked against how each product actually behaves.

Tell us which system decision is on your desk.

Replacement, upgrade or a new SCF programme: share the products, volumes and timeline and we’ll suggest a scope. A trade finance specialist will reply, not a sales team. We usually reply within 24 hours.
